Wondering what Fierce Shorts are all about? Here’s the lowdown:
Fierce Shorts are creative non-fiction pieces about all things teen. Love, friends, school, family, fitting in, standing out. For some it’s a trip down memory lane, for others it’s a breath of relief that they aren’t alone. We’re looking for shorts that are between 5,000 to 15,000 words in length.
Who writes Fierce Shorts? You do! Whether you’re an aspiring or established writer, well beyond your teen years or smack dab in the middle of them, we want to hear from you.
We keep hearing “it gets better” which is fine and dandy, but sometimes just knowing that others are going through (or have gone through) the same battles, have dealt with the same issues can help with the present.
To show that we’re putting our money where our mouths are, a percentage of the proceeds from each Fierce Short that’s sold will go to a local youth charity. As the author of the published piece you get to pick that charity!
Have an idea for a Fierce Short? We want to hear about it! Submit a brief proposal of your idea with a writing sample to firstname.lastname@example.org and remember to keep it short. It shouldn’t be longer than the piece you’d like to publish.
If you’ve got a full-length fiction novel, check out our other submission guidelines.
